Leaking intake valve guides primarily lead to excessive oil consumption. The valve guides are designed to support the valves and control their movement while also providing a seal to prevent oil from leaking into the combustion chamber. When the valve guides leak, oil can enter the intake manifold and subsequently be burned during combustion. This results in noticeable oil consumption, as more oil is required to lubricate the engine than what is typical under normal operating conditions.
